Nourishment for Normal Hair

I dedicate this post to my dear friend Sneha who is undeniably a Diva! She too, is a Chartered Accountant by profession. We became friends in a workshop organized by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

Normal hair needs nourishment. This is a hair type which neither has overactive sebaceous glands nor has frizzy look to it.

Since this hair type does not pose any beauty or grooming concern as such, proper nourishment of normal hair may be overlooked. If adequate care is not taken, the hair may begin to lose its luster, smoothness and strength.

You can know that your normal hair needs a little more attention if it shows/has any one or more of the below:

«     It becomes unmanageable a day after the shampoo.
«     Is not shiny and glossy and has begun to lose its sheen.
«     Shows breakage and brittleness.
«     Doesn’t feel silky, supple and moisturized.
«     Tangles easily. i.e., you can’t run your fingers through it.
«     Is thin or lacks volume.

The causes of such hair condition generally are:

«     Lack of proper hair care regime.
«     No hair cut regime.
«     Dandruff – dry or oily.
«     Ageing hair.
«     Styling products residue/product built up in hair.
«     Hair color usage.
«     Chemical treatments, e.g. rebonding.
«     Frequent stylings viz., blow drying, hot rollers etc.
«     Too little conditioning.
«     Lack of good sleep.
«     Lack of balanced diet.
«     Over exposure to sunlight due to lifestyle.

The key to silky beautiful glowing hair is here…

«     Hair should always be free from grime, dirt, sweat & oil. Remember clean hair is gorgeous hair.
«     Go for shorter but frequent hair trims. This will reduce split ends & retain your haircut polished.
«     Pump up your hair with a volume boosting shampoo & conditioner. You can try Oriflame Volume Boost shampoo (INR 229; 250ml) & Leave-in conditioner(INR 298; 150ml)
«     Use a round brush instead of comb to boost hair volume.
«     Wash your hair in cold water to lock in moisture.
«     Eating right is also the secret for healthy glossy locks. Incorporate nuts (for the amino-acids & antioxidants) & dairy products (these are good sources of protein) if you are a vegetarian. Non-vegetarians can go for fish, eggs or white meat for protein. Vitamin B, folic acid and essential fatty acids nourish & strengthen hair.
«     If you have been cutting down on quality sleep….time to get some!!
«     Treat your dandruff with ClariZinc complex to revitalize & rebalance your hair from the roots. Try Oriflame Anti-dandruff Shampoo & Conditioner (each INR 249; 250ml)
«     Conditioning is imperative to hydrate hair strands after shampoo to get healthy natural shine from root to tip. You may opt for Oriflame Nature Care Lime & Ginger Vitality Conditioner (INR 159; 200ml) or Boosting Conditioner with Kiwi & Orange(INR 159; 200ml)
«     Weekly hair mask will strengthen, refresh & protect your hair. Try Oriflame Olive & Bamboo Fortifying Hair Mask (INR 69; 20ml). Bamboo extracts moisturize & soften hair brilliantly.
«     Washing your hair everyday (if your lifestyle demands that) is not a crime. Just remember to use a suitable shampoo & conditioner combination. Oriflame Daily Care 2 in 1-Shampoo & Conditioner (INR 249; 250ml) is a safe bet coz of the HydraPlus complex.
«     Cover your hair when stepping out in the sun to avert dryness.
«     If you hair is ageing, go for weekly use of Oriflame Pro Vita & Keratin Amino Acid Treatment Capsules (INR 690; 18 capsules). Additionally, Hair X Range of Anti- ageing Shampoo & Conditioner (each INR 298; 250ml) will give you supple youthful looking hair.

Normal hair too needs proper look after & love, so start caring for it today. If you have any query, please address it to rajshree.oriflame@gmail.com. I’ll be glad to reply.

Till the next post, stay gorgeous…inside & out!!
